Southville Road, Thames Ditton

Dormer roof extension (please click on images to expand).

The property had an existing room in the loft which was originally used as the maid’s chambers when the house was built in the early 1900’s. The clients wanted to add more space to the room with the addition of a rear dormer and they also wanted to add an en-suite bathroom. The brief was to ensure that the dormer was in keeping with the rest of the property and this was achieved by designing a pitched roof with decorative fascia boards and timber windows to match the existing windows.

The dormer extension fell within Permitted Development as the additional volume did not exceed 50 cubic metres. We prepared some existing and proposed elevation drawings to illustrate how the dormer would look and subsequently carried out the structural design with calculations for Building Control Approval.

"Rob Allison and the project team provided an extremely professional service from the drawing board through to completion of the works. The brief was set to provide a design and build solution for our loft that was in-keeping with the Edwardian house, and Thames Design and Build delivered the project to our exacting requirements. They managed the relationship and process with building control and were very proficient in transitioning design work into a high quality build. The work was completed on programme and to budget. We would have no hesitation in recommending Rob and the team."
